Professional picture framing
Picture framing is quite personal, so here at Primrose Gallery and at our sister company Picture Perfect in Northampton, we work with you to select the most appropriate materials and methods to frame your artwork. That’s whether you bought it from us, or elsewhere. No job is too big or too small. If all you require is a single mount for your own frame, you are just as welcome as a company or an artist needing 100 frames for an exhibition. There are numerous ranges of mouldings, decorative wood fillets, and mount cards in every shade and thickness imaginable to choose from. But don’t worry, as our Fine Art Trade Guild qualified framers will assist you in choosing the right frame components to complement the artwork.
Picture cleaning and restoration
As well as offering picture framing from our workshops in Northampton, we also offer picture cleaning, painting restoration and conservation services. These include the re-lining of paintings on canvas, retouching of damaged artworks, re-making of old frames, and full picture cleaning and re-varnishing by skilled experts. We can handle easel paintings whether on canvas, board or panel, both in oil or acrylic. Our specialists are also adept at re-colouring watercolours and ‘de-foxing’ them – often caused by humidity and variable temperatures – and the removal of paper-based artworks from their backing. Our advice and estimates are provided free of charge, and larger pieces can be collected from your home.
Scanning and Giclée printing
If you want a very high quality print of a piece of artwork or photograph, why not take advantage of our Giclée printing service. It’s a process that uses fade-resistant dyes onto acid-free paper, usually on a weight no less than 285 gsm. In fact, we tend to use 310 gsm as standard.
A small part of our business is providing valuations either for sale or for insurance purposes. If this is something you are interested in, please make an appointment with our friendly and helpful gallery staff.
