Quality Picture Framing
Framing at the Primrose Gallery is supplied by Picture Perfect who have been established 12 years and enjoy a nationwide respect, framing for several galleries, shops and photographers. With a combined 40 years experience in the trade between the staff, we can honestly say we still learn something new each week, and we all still go for regular staff training! But then we do like to think we have some expertise in this, our specialist subject.
Picture Perfect Framers offer a full framing service on-site in Northampton by QUALIFIED framers, with THREE framers trained to Fine Art Trade Guild standards ( GCF part I). We are now working on training of our staff towards GCF part II, and then adding gilding of real gold and silver leaf and beyond. Also gallery owner Neil Duguid has been elected as a Director to the Board of The Fine Art Trade Guild, and was invited onto the International Framers Committee.
We are more than happy to frame your own artwork or treasured items as well as framing the work sold in the gallery. Likewise we specialise in framing cross stitch and embroidery. But we are not limited to that.
The answer is 'yes'; we can frame it.
There are numerous ranges of mouldings, decorative wood fillets and mount-cards in every shade imaginable to choose from (over 400 on site) and using the very latest on screen VISUALISATION SOFTWARE, our staff will assist you in choosing a frame and mount to complement the artwork.
We can frame to every standard; starting at Commended level (we dont bother with Budget) Conservation, Exhibition and Museum Standards. We are confident of working with items of value and are fully conversant with the requirements of conservation framing and can explain what is required to fully protect your artwork whether it be with low PH mount-cards or one of the nine types of glass available (White glass, UV filtering, reduced reflection, Museum Glass etc.)
We also keep the best quality museum mount board and use archival tapes to ensure that all materials touching the artwork are pure, non-acidic and reversible. Using pure materials with low PH values helps to reduce discolouration and foxing, which damages the artwork. Conservation glass can also help to protect valuable works of art that can be susceptible to fading from sunlight. UV filtering glass remove 98% of the ultraviolet rays that can damage artwork, others eliminates glare and are useful in rooms with harsh light conditions, where reflections spoil viewing of the work. Finally, in this age of fast-frame shops and part-time framers, it is reassuring to know that we command all the traditional skills. Decorated mounts with French Matting. Washlines, wood fillets, gesso slips and linen mounts are all possible. Hand finished mouldings, slip-nailing mitres where appropriate. Water and Oil Gilding and Silvering, plus picture and frame cleaning and restoration, paper restoration, hand finished frames, staining and French-Polished frames. Ovals and large scale frames, small simple frames; all are finished with the same care, skill and precision.
We are professional too. We don't miss deadlines. We have at least 2 of each type of machine, handy when one packed up during Christmas week, we could continue. We also have the largest Speedmount mat cutter in the Midlands and can cut continental sized mount cards up to 3000 microns thick for exhibition framing. |
